21st Birthday

Sorry I have been absent these past 2 days! I didn’t even realize how many things I had going on Sunday and Monday until Sunday came along! i am so happy that after this week of classes I go on spring break. I could really use a week to relax 😀

One thing I did get to do with the little bit of free time I had was discuss what I want for my 21st birthday with my sister. Naturally, the first place we went was the Asos sale page, and I found some really cute dresses that are both currently on sale! Even though my birthday isn’t until April 6th, she is going to get them for me earlier since they will probably be out of stock by the time my birthday comes around. Which means when I come back from spring break I will have 2 new dresses waiting for me! Here are the 2 dresses I picked:

The second one I got in navy blue instead of the black but they have run out of the navy blue by now. I will be sure to get some outfit posts up soon after I get them in the mail!

Hope you all are having a great start to your week! If I am not posting as regularly this week it is because it is midterm week for me :/

Thank you all for reading!

T.J. Maxx Haul!

Yesterday, I went out with my sister to help her get whatever else she needs to go abroad (she leaves in 5 days!). In our attempt to find her a universal adapter, we found ourselves in T.J. Maxx. And they were having a HUGE clearance sale!!!! Although I didn’t buy a ton since I am still saving up for Italy, here is what I scored from the sale:

001  002                                               004  003

Each pair of heels were just $7! One is Nine West and the other is Tommy Hilfiger. Unfortunately I won’t be able to use them until I get back from abroad since they are both heeled 😦 But they are still super cute!

The first bathing suit is Juicy Couture and was $23 and the second is a MiracleSuit which I bought for just $20! And, as I advertised a few days ago, I am really loving one piece bathing suits right now, so these two were great finds!

One more thing I bought that I figured I would share with you all is the Not Your Mother’s Texturizing Sea Salt Spray I bought at Ulta. I have heard is really good and costs less than $6. I haven’t tried it yet, but it smells incredible!

That’s all for today since I have to help my sister with some more stuff for study abroad! Thanks for reading!

Although I usually buy clothes in store as opposed to online, that might have to change when I get back from abroad! Today I discovered an online store that I absolutely love called Mallzee.com!

When you first sign up, they have a style quiz so they can generate clothes that you would be most likely to buy. Then they give you a choice of over 200 designers that you would like to appear in your feed (you are not limited to a certain number of designers). Finally, you can go to your customized feed of gorgeous clothes and accessories all put together in one online mall! It is incredible! When you pick on something that you like, you can either click for more info and be redirected to the designers’ site or you can click to buy it right from Mallzee.com. Also, whenever you buy something, you earn Mallzee’s dollars to use towards your next purchase at Mallzee.com!

My favorite feature is the personal wardrobe! When you click on something that you love but either don’t want to buy right that second or don’t know if you want, you can save it by adding it to your wardrobe. In your wardrobe, you will get tips on what to pair each item with. It is really quite exciting 🙂

Lastly, you can have friends on Mallzee! You can get friends by connecting on facebook or by inviting them through email. There is even an option to ask your friends’ opinion on whether or not you should buy something. This is another cool feature of the website.

If I wasn’t going abroad, I probably would have bought something by now 😛 For anyone who loves to shop online or who just loves to shop, I definitely recommend checking this site out! If you do, you can feel free to friend me by email at kristen.m.sehn@gmail.com! You can also check out Mallzee’s blog here.

Happy shopping!

Mallorca / New Obsession

Okay, before I start this post, I would like to say that I am very excited to have been nominated not once more, but twice more for the Liebster Award! Thank you so much to the awesome bloggers at All Eyes on Fashion and Stilestilo! I will hopefully have both sets of questions and both sets of nominated bloggers up tomorrow! But for right now, I want to talk about MALLORCA!!!

It is official! I will be visiting Mallorca, Spain, for fall break while I am studying abroad! I am beyond excited! My best friend, Jesse, who is in the same study abroad program as me, has family friends who live in Mallorca. When she told me they offered for us to stay with them for our fall break, I couldn’t even believe it! Not only do I get to go to the party island of Spain, but I don’t have to pay for a hotel or hostel! Almost too good to be true!

Look at these absolutely STUNNING pictures of the island and some of its attractions:

I simply can’t wait to go! I have not stopped looking at cute bathing suits online! Which leads me to the second part of my post: my new OBSESSION with one-piece bathing suits! I have always loved one-piece bathing suits and actually own one that I really love. But when I was looking at some of them today I realized how many cute ones there are now! Here are some of  my favorites that I found:

One Piece Bathing Suits

1. ASOS   2. Ted Baker  3. La Blanca  4. ASOS   5. ASOS   6. ASOS   7. French Connection   8. French Connection

And trust me, there are about 30 more saved on my computer 😀

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Thanks for reading!

Plato’s Closet!

I, as many fashion bloggers out there do, LOVE to shop! And one of my favorite places to shop is Plato’s Closet. For those of you who don’t know, Plato’s Closet is a place where you can sell or buy gently used designer clothing, shoes, and accessories. Most of the stuff still has tags on it, and it is all 50-70% off the retail price!!!

Plato's Closet

Blog Post Plato's Closet

I first discovered Plato’s Closet a few years ago. I heard about it online and decided to check out the closest one to me, which was unfortunately almost an hour away. I have made the trek out to Plato’s Closet a few times in the past, despite the distance. But recently, a store opened up by me! I was absolutely thrilled! I actually went into the store the week before it opened (they were open for buying but not for selling) and made a list of everything I saw that I wanted. Then, the day it opened, I stood online at 7:30 in the morning until it opened at 8. Yup, I love Plato’s Closet lol. I got quite a few cute blouses and a really cute pair of shoes, all of which you will see me wear in Italy!

But a few days ago, I went in again looking for a pair of tan sandals. The Steve Madden pair that I own currently is kinda sorta bent a little bit (aka it is broken). Even though my sister keeps trying to throw it away, I refuse to do so until I get a new pair. They really are that cute! Unfortunately, the only pair of sandals that even closely resembled the pair I had was too big for me 😦 Look at how cute these are:

Seriously wish they had been my size! However, I did walk out with three really cute things! My favorite purchase by far is this blue and white H&M dress:

I love the pop of color from the red sash! I can’t wait to wear it 😀

Have any great finds from Plato’s Closet that you would like to share? Feel free to comment below! Hope everyone is having a great week and thanks for reading!

New Purse for Italy!

This weekend has been SOOOO incredibly busy for me! Between celebrating my dad’s birthday AND preparing for Italy I barely had a moment of free time! My weekend started with numerous calls regarding credit cards for study abroad, reservations for study abroad, phones for study abroad… you get the picture. For my dad’s birthday, my family headed up to NY Jets Training Camp in upstate New York. I am not particularly fond of sports and I have never been to a football game before, but the scrimmage was actually pretty cool! On Sunday, I started my day seeing The Wolverine with my dad which was awesome! Then, after all that fun, it was back to worrying about tickets, packing lists and numerous other things for study abroad.

As hectic as preparing for abroad has been, there have been a few perks. For instance, one of the many lists I have made so far lists all the requirements that my purse must have to be deemed appropriate for Italy. With all that I have heard about pickpockets cutting into people’s purses or stealing their purse right off their shoulder I am not about to take any chances! Looking at my purses I realized I had absolutely nothing that met all of my requirements. We all know what that means: Time for a NEW PURSE!!!!

In the bit of free time that I had I headed off to T.J. Maxx (for the third time) to find the perfect purse: it had to have a short handle just big enough to fit on my shoulder (this would allow me to pin down my bag with my arm and prevent it from being snatched), an optional shoulder strap so I could also wear it as a crossbody bag (this is also a safe style of purse abroad), a full zipper closure and a sturdy bottom that can’t be easily cut into. Most importantly, I wanted the purse to be BIG. I do not travel light by any means and my plane restrictions say my purse can weigh up to 17 pounds. I definitely plan on getting my 17 pounds worth 😀

I went through what must have been hundreds of purses before I finally I found this black Steve Madden satchel (similar here and here):

Steve Madden Bag 2                 Steve Madden Bag 3

Steve Madden Bag                 Steve Madden Bag 4

I absolutely love this bag! Not only does it fit all of my requirements, but it is stylish with its zipper detailing, chevron print lining and quilted back. Also, since it is black, it will match with everything. And best of all? It was only $39.99 (orig. $98.00)! That is why I love T.J. Maxx. It was totally worth all my trips there to find this bag. You can look forward to seeing it in all my outfit posts from Italy!

I am going to end this post with a tip for those going abroad: even if you do think the bottom of your purse is sturdy enough to prevent pickpockets from cutting into it, take extra precaution by lining the bottom with a piece of cardboard. That will give you some added protection and keep you from constantly worrying while walking the busy streets of larger cities like Rome, Paris and  London.

Hope you found that helpful! Feel free to comment about any questions you may have about packing for travel. I will be making a post soon about all of my tips, but before I do that I actually have to finish deciding what to pack 😉
