Best Dressed: Oscars 2014

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I know I did, especially yesterday, when I finally finished my paper just in time to watch the Oscars! I don’t know how many of you tuned in to watch last night but I was in front of the television from 5 pm until midnight watching every bit of coverage! Since I have a deep love and appreciation for both fashion and movies it is one of my favorite nights of the year! One of my favorite parts of the night is watching the red carpet and all the beautiful gowns and makeup!!! Here are some of my favorite looks of the night:

kate hudson 2

Kate Hudson was one of my favorite looks of the night. She truly exuded old Hollywood glamour in this stunning white gown!

j law

Although my favorite look of hers will always be her Oscar dress last year (see it here), Jennifer Lawrence looks classy in this red Dior gown

Emma Watson

I love Emma Watson’s style and she definitely did not disappoint in this sparkly, floor length gown by Vera Wang

cate

I am absolutely in love with Cate Blanchett and her gown! So happy for her win!!!

lupita

Lupita was by far one of my favorites of the night. She looks gorgeous in this custom Prada

There were also a lot of great looks from the men this year! There were a lot of colored suits, from cream to burgundy to navy. Here were my 4 favorites:

Joseph Gordon Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt looked handsome as always in a textured suit

michael strahan

Michael Strahan was just one of the men donning a burgundy suit, but his was my personal favorite

jared leto

I loved Jared Let’s cream suit jacket with the colored bowtie!

Leo

And finally, I could not leave Leo out! Looking dashing as ever, he will always be a winner in my book 😀

Were there other looks that you loved at the Oscars? Whose look was your favorite?

Hope you enjoyed reading! After taking a break with my midterms and the Oscars, I will be returning to my Italy posts! I don’t have many more to share with you, but I am excited to do so anyway! So you can watch out for that in the next couple of days!

Have a great week!

xoxo Kristen

21st Birthday

Sorry I have been absent these past 2 days! I didn’t even realize how many things I had going on Sunday and Monday until Sunday came along! i am so happy that after this week of classes I go on spring break. I could really use a week to relax 😀

One thing I did get to do with the little bit of free time I had was discuss what I want for my 21st birthday with my sister. Naturally, the first place we went was the Asos sale page, and I found some really cute dresses that are both currently on sale! Even though my birthday isn’t until April 6th, she is going to get them for me earlier since they will probably be out of stock by the time my birthday comes around. Which means when I come back from spring break I will have 2 new dresses waiting for me! Here are the 2 dresses I picked:

ImageImage

The second one I got in navy blue instead of the black but they have run out of the navy blue by now. I will be sure to get some outfit posts up soon after I get them in the mail!

Hope you all are having a great start to your week! If I am not posting as regularly this week it is because it is midterm week for me :/

Thank you all for reading!

Sunshine on a Rainy Day

Today started out very rainy and gloomy. Before I got dressed, I had the idea to match my outfit to my favorite umbrella. It has the New York Skyline along the edge of it! It always reminds me of how much I would love to live there one day 😀 To complement the black and gray tones of the umbrella, I chose a black and gray printed shift dress. To give the outfit a little bit of color, I paired the dress with a black and pink floral pencil skirt, then brought out the pink in my lips and shoes.

By the time I was about to leave the house with my sister, I realized the sun had come up! As happy as I was that the gloomy weather was gone, I hated leaving my umbrella behind. Depsite the weather, I decided to take some pictures with the umbrella 😛

Today will be dedicated to helping my sister pack some more and getting her anything else she may need, as well as practicing songs for a friend’s wedding my sister and I were asked to sing for. It is 2 days before she leaves, but we couldn’t refuse! Hopefully I will have some pics of that for all of you on Saturday after the ceremony!

Thanks again for reading!

T.J. Maxx Haul!

Yesterday, I went out with my sister to help her get whatever else she needs to go abroad (she leaves in 5 days!). In our attempt to find her a universal adapter, we found ourselves in T.J. Maxx. And they were having a HUGE clearance sale!!!! Although I didn’t buy a ton since I am still saving up for Italy, here is what I scored from the sale:

001  002                                               004  003

Each pair of heels were just $7! One is Nine West and the other is Tommy Hilfiger. Unfortunately I won’t be able to use them until I get back from abroad since they are both heeled 😦 But they are still super cute!

The first bathing suit is Juicy Couture and was $23 and the second is a MiracleSuit which I bought for just $20! And, as I advertised a few days ago, I am really loving one piece bathing suits right now, so these two were great finds!

One more thing I bought that I figured I would share with you all is the Not Your Mother’s Texturizing Sea Salt Spray I bought at Ulta. I have heard is really good and costs less than $6. I haven’t tried it yet, but it smells incredible!

That’s all for today since I have to help my sister with some more stuff for study abroad! Thanks for reading!

Mallzee.com

Although I usually buy clothes in store as opposed to online, that might have to change when I get back from abroad! Today I discovered an online store that I absolutely love called Mallzee.com!

When you first sign up, they have a style quiz so they can generate clothes that you would be most likely to buy. Then they give you a choice of over 200 designers that you would like to appear in your feed (you are not limited to a certain number of designers). Finally, you can go to your customized feed of gorgeous clothes and accessories all put together in one online mall! It is incredible! When you pick on something that you like, you can either click for more info and be redirected to the designers’ site or you can click to buy it right from Mallzee.com. Also, whenever you buy something, you earn Mallzee’s dollars to use towards your next purchase at Mallzee.com!

My favorite feature is the personal wardrobe! When you click on something that you love but either don’t want to buy right that second or don’t know if you want, you can save it by adding it to your wardrobe. In your wardrobe, you will get tips on what to pair each item with. It is really quite exciting 🙂

Lastly, you can have friends on Mallzee! You can get friends by connecting on facebook or by inviting them through email. There is even an option to ask your friends’ opinion on whether or not you should buy something. This is another cool feature of the website.

If I wasn’t going abroad, I probably would have bought something by now 😛 For anyone who loves to shop online or who just loves to shop, I definitely recommend checking this site out! If you do, you can feel free to friend me by email at kristen.m.sehn@gmail.com! You can also check out Mallzee’s blog here.

Happy shopping!

Mallorca / New Obsession

Okay, before I start this post, I would like to say that I am very excited to have been nominated not once more, but twice more for the Liebster Award! Thank you so much to the awesome bloggers at All Eyes on Fashion and Stilestilo! I will hopefully have both sets of questions and both sets of nominated bloggers up tomorrow! But for right now, I want to talk about MALLORCA!!!

It is official! I will be visiting Mallorca, Spain, for fall break while I am studying abroad! I am beyond excited! My best friend, Jesse, who is in the same study abroad program as me, has family friends who live in Mallorca. When she told me they offered for us to stay with them for our fall break, I couldn’t even believe it! Not only do I get to go to the party island of Spain, but I don’t have to pay for a hotel or hostel! Almost too good to be true!

Look at these absolutely STUNNING pictures of the island and some of its attractions:

I simply can’t wait to go! I have not stopped looking at cute bathing suits online! Which leads me to the second part of my post: my new OBSESSION with one-piece bathing suits! I have always loved one-piece bathing suits and actually own one that I really love. But when I was looking at some of them today I realized how many cute ones there are now! Here are some of  my favorites that I found:

One Piece Bathing Suits

1. ASOS   2. Ted Baker  3. La Blanca  4. ASOS   5. ASOS   6. ASOS   7. French Connection   8. French Connection

And trust me, there are about 30 more saved on my computer 😀

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Thanks for reading!

Plato’s Closet!

I, as many fashion bloggers out there do, LOVE to shop! And one of my favorite places to shop is Plato’s Closet. For those of you who don’t know, Plato’s Closet is a place where you can sell or buy gently used designer clothing, shoes, and accessories. Most of the stuff still has tags on it, and it is all 50-70% off the retail price!!!

Plato's Closet

Blog Post Plato's Closet

I first discovered Plato’s Closet a few years ago. I heard about it online and decided to check out the closest one to me, which was unfortunately almost an hour away. I have made the trek out to Plato’s Closet a few times in the past, despite the distance. But recently, a store opened up by me! I was absolutely thrilled! I actually went into the store the week before it opened (they were open for buying but not for selling) and made a list of everything I saw that I wanted. Then, the day it opened, I stood online at 7:30 in the morning until it opened at 8. Yup, I love Plato’s Closet lol. I got quite a few cute blouses and a really cute pair of shoes, all of which you will see me wear in Italy!

But a few days ago, I went in again looking for a pair of tan sandals. The Steve Madden pair that I own currently is kinda sorta bent a little bit (aka it is broken). Even though my sister keeps trying to throw it away, I refuse to do so until I get a new pair. They really are that cute! Unfortunately, the only pair of sandals that even closely resembled the pair I had was too big for me 😦 Look at how cute these are:

Seriously wish they had been my size! However, I did walk out with three really cute things! My favorite purchase by far is this blue and white H&M dress:

I love the pop of color from the red sash! I can’t wait to wear it 😀

Have any great finds from Plato’s Closet that you would like to share? Feel free to comment below! Hope everyone is having a great week and thanks for reading!

The Woman in the Dress

Given the name of my blog, I thought it was fitting for me to wear a dress for my first outfit post. This is one of my favorite dresses I own, and it was given to me by my sister, which makes it even more special.

I love really feminine pieces like this dress and the pearl bracelets, but I love that these shoes add some edge to the outfit. The overall softness and overwhelming feminine quality with the little added edge reflects my overall style very well, as well as my personality.

As for the hair, this is my go-to hairstyle. Whenever I am at a loss for something new to try with my hair(and trust me I LOVE experimenting with hair), I either leave it down or do this. I especially love working with braids, which is why I incorporated one in the back of this twisted look to surround the bun (it is not very visible in the picture). To make the bun fuller, I added a sock bun. I find that these come in handy when you want to add some volume to your bun. I use Conair’s Bun Maker sock bun. If you have any questions about this look, feel free to comment.

For my makeup, I always try to keep it simple and natural. To me, that means a bright face and lightly accented eyes. I achieve that by using BB Cream instead of foundation, a light pink powder blush and a neutral matte eye palette. I also do not line my lower lash line, just tightline the top. Again, if you have any questions feel free to comment.

With this look, I feel confident, which to me is the most important aspect of any look. It is more than just a dress, it is a reflection of my personality.

Thank you to my wonderful twin sister Kim for taking these pictures! Sorry for the quality of the photos – she just got a new camera which she has not gotten a usb for yet so she used her iphone :P. I hope you enjoy this look! Thanks for reading!
